Whitehall is a road in the City of Westminster, London. It was named after the Palace of Whitehall which was destroyed in a fire in 1698.

Whitehall runs north from Parliament Square, originally to Charing Cross, but now to the southern end of Trafalgar Square, where the statue of King Charles I stands. Whitehall is where most of the government departments of Britain is located. For that reason, the name "Whitehall" is often used as a metonym for British governmental administration, in addition to being the geographic name of the surrounding area. The official residence of the Prime Minister is at 10 Downing Street, in an off-shoot from Whitehall.

The part of Whitehall between the junction of King Charles Street to the intersection with Bridge Street and St Margaret Street is often also called Parliament Street.

How to reach Whitehall
