West Hampstead Tube Station (see map) is a station of the London Underground in West Hampstead, in the London Borough of Camden. It is located on West End Lane.
West Hampstead Tube Station is served by the Jubilee Line between Kilburn Tube Station (heading towards Stanmore) and Finchley Road Tube Station (heading towards Stratford). It began operations in 1879 for the Metropolitan Railway, precursor of the Metropolitan Line. Services were transferred to the Bakerloo Line in 1939, and then to the Jubilee Line in 1979.
West Hampstead Tube Station is 100 meters from the West Hampstead Railway Station served by the National Rail and London Overground. It is also 200 meters from the West Hampstead Thameslink railway station. All three stations are near to each other but are not inter-connected. There was a proposal going back to 2004 to built subterranean walkways to link these three stations. It would require the demolition of some buildings, but will turn West End Lane into a tree-line boulevard. So far the proposal has remained on the drawing board.
