The London Borough of Waltham Forest is a borough of Greater London on the northern part of Outer London. Being on the outer part of the metropolis, this borough comprises large expanse of forestland and open space.

The London Borough of Waltham Forest is not very large, covering just 38.82 sq km (15 sq mi) and has a population of 223,000 (2011 estimate). White British accounts for about 54% of the population. There is also a substantial ethnic Pakistani (8%) and Black Caribbean (8%) population here.

The main towns within this borough are Chingford to the north, Walthamstow in the centre, and Leyton and Leytonstone to the south. The borough has the third largest Muslim population in London, behind Newham and Tower Hamlets, and the fifth highest in England.

A section of the London Borough of Waltham Forest is within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Events to be held here include swimming, synchronised swimming and water polo.

How to reach Waltham Forest

You can take the London Underground Central Line to this borough, stopping at Leyton tube station and Leytonstone tube station. The Victoria Line also serves this borough at Walthamstow Central tube station and Blackhorse Road tube station.
