The London Borough of Tower Hamlets is a borough of Greater London located to the east of the City of London. It is on the northern bank of the River Thames. The borough is 19.77 sq km (7.7 sq mi) in area, and has a population of 222,000 (2011 estimate). Ethnic Bangladeshis form over 30% of the population, second only to White British, at 44%.

Tower Hamlets include the redeveloped Docklands region, the West India Docks and Canary Wharf. On the southern part of the borough is the Isle of Dogs, site of some of the tallest skyscrapers in London. It is the main area of the East End of London, with a high ethnic population composed primarily of Bangladeshis.

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets borders the London Borough of Hackney to the north, the London Borough of Newham to the east, bordered by the River Lee, the City of London to the west, and the River Thames to the south.

How to reach Tower Hamlets

You can take the London Underground District Line and Hammersmith and City Line to the Aldgate East Tube Station and Barking Tube Station. The Central Line serves the Bethnal Green Tube Station and Mile End Tube Station. The Jubilee Line has a stop at the Canary Wharf Tube Station.

The Docklands Light Railway serves the dockland areas of Tower Hamlets. Its main terminus is the Bank DLR Station and the Tower Gateway DLR Station. Poplar DLR Station is also an interchange for the DLR trains going to Stratford via the Canary Wharf DLR Station towards the Lewisham DLR Station.
