The original Shepherd's Bush Market Tube Station began operations on 13 June 1864 for the Metropolitan Railway. At that time, it was known as the Shepherd's Bush Station. That station closed and two new stations bearing the same name opened on 1 April 1914. On 2008, the station for the Hammersmith & City Line was renamed Shepherd's Bush Market Tube Station, to differentiate it from the other Shepherd's Bush Tube Station, and the London Overground Shepherd's Bush Railway Station.
