 Piccadilly, London
Piccadilly is a street in London. Located within the City of Westminster, it runs from Hyde Park Corner in the west to Piccadilly Circus in the east.
Piccadilly was originally known as Portugal Street until the 17th century. The present name came about when tailor Robert Baker, who made a fortune making and selling piccadills bought land in the area and built his mansion called Piccadilly Hall.
Today Piccadilly is one of the widest and straightest streets in central London. Although it has a number of famous shops and luxury hotels, it is not the main shopping street of the city.
How to reach Piccadilly
There are three tube stations of the London Underground along the length of Piccadilly. The Hyde Park Corner Tube Station is served by the Piccadilly Line; the Green Park Tube Station is served by the Jubilee Line, Piccadilly Line and Victoria Line; the Piccadilly Circus Tube Station is served by the Bakerloo Line and Piccadilly Line.
