Oyster Card is a contactless smart card that you can use when you travel on the London Underground. The cards are smart enough to calculate the cheapest fare for all the journeys you make within a single day.

This is how the card looks like:

If you are visiting London for just a few days, you should get the Visitor Oyster Card. You can use it on the London Underground trains (the Tube), the Docklands Light Rail (DLR), and the London Overground trains, as well as on the buses, trams, National Rail trains (not including the Heathrow Connect and Heathrow Express) and the riverboats. Your Oyster Card is valid at any time of the day - your fare is deducted according to whether you used it during peak period (6:30 am to 9:30 am and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Mondays to Fridays) or off-peak periods (any other times).
