Notting Hill Tourist Info
Notting Hill is an area in West London, England. It is located close to the north-western corner of Hyde Park, within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Notting Hill today ins well known as an affluent and fashionable area - it movie Notting Hill starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant further fueled interest. The area has attractive Victorian townhouses, and high-class shopping and restaurants.
It is not sure how "Notting Hill" got its name, although it appeared as Knottynghull in a document from 1878. It would have have originated from the name of a manor. Today Notting Hill is also associated with artists and where "alternative" culture can be seen or practised.
