You can catch the London taxis (Black Cabs) directly outsideTaking the taxi is probably the most expensive public and not the most efficient transport option out of Stansted, as the airport is quite far from Central London. Stansted Airport has its official provider, Checker Cars, which operate a quoted fare system. Checker Cars taxis can be pre-booked with fares paid in advance or at the end of the journey, by cash or credit card. They also have swivel seats for disabled travelers. You can find their reservation desk on the international arrivals concourse. The taxis are parked outside the terminal building. After booking, you can make payment then and there by credit/debit card, or directly by cash to the driver. It takes approximately 90-120 minutes to reach Central London, and costs around £70 (plus £5 congestion charge if your destination is within the charging zone).
