Hampstead Tube Station is a station of the London Underground in Hampstead, in the London Borough of Camden. The station at the junction of Heath Street with Hampstead High Street is in the boundary of Travelcard Zones 2 and 3. It is served by the Edgware branch of the Northern Line between Golders Green Tube Station (heading towards Edgware) and Belsize Park Tube Station (heading towards Morden or Kennington).
The Hampstead Tube Station opened in 1907 for the Charing Cross, Euston & Hampstead Railway. It was originally intended to be known as Heath Street Tube Station. The platforms of this station, at 58.5 m (192 ft) below ground level, is the deepest in the London Underground network. There is a spiral emergency staircase from the platform to the top, comprising 320 steps.
