The London Borough of Croydon is a borough of Greater London forming a part of Outer London.
The London Borough of Croydon has a population of 342,000 (2011 estimate). It is the most populous as well as southernmost borough of London. It is bordered by the London Borough of Bromley to the east, the London Borough of Lambeth to the north, and the London Borough of Merton and the London Borough of Sutton to the west, Reigate and Banstead to the southwest and Tandridge to the south.

Until the late 1950's, Croydon was known for its airport. However, Croydon Airport had to close due to lack of space for further expansion. The borough is also lobbying for city status, which if achieved, will make it the third city within Greater London.
