Blackfriars Tube Station is a station of the London Underground that is presently closed for refurbishment from March 2009 until late 2011. The station is located within the London Blackfriars Railway Station (which is also closed for refurbishment) in the City of London. The station is at the junction of New Bridge Street and Queen Victoria Street in Travelcard Zone 1.
The Blackfriars Tube Station, when reopens, will once again serve the Circle Line and District Line, both between the Mansion House Tube Station and Temple Tube Station. The station first began operations on 30 May 1870 for the Metropolitan District Line. As it is located on the northern bank of the River Thames, commuters can walk there from the Blackfriars Bridge.
